Is Crypto an Investment?

Have you been asked Which Cryptos are you investing in?

I know I have and really this is a hard one to answer as I'm mixed on calling any of the coins I currently own investing.  I think of investing as gambling where the longer you hold the better chance you have of winning.  An example would be CDs (no risk low/no return), Bonds (little risk slight return), and Stocks (risky, high return).  When you look at the cryptos the risk is very high but the returns can be enormous. Which brings us back to the question are cryptos an investment?

My answer to this is no they are not an investment but a form of gambling with what I feel are much better odds than a casino.  You can still loose everything as some coins fail or countries change policy all of which are unrelated to the actual use case of a crypto.  So if you are looking to put money into Bitcoin or Ethereum I feel it is fairly safe but only put in that which you can loose and remember that you don't actually have that money until it is used to purchase either a fiat currency or an item.  Especially with how volatile in price you need to remember not to spend money you don't have yet.  I've seen too many start to spend money they don't have then panic when prices fall.  Same can be said of any market but must be mentioned again as more money flows into this market and the many altcoins that might or might not make it in the long run.

These are my own personal thoughts and do not contain advice on investing.
