The Tezos India Foundation organizes an 8 weeks mentor-led program: the Tezos India Fellowship. This project is organized together with Devfolio and aims to train and incentivize developers to build on Tezos. The latest Tezos Hackathon, which lasted a month and ended a few days ago, also had 1,000+ registrations while being available for developers world-wide. This hackathon also included workshops, which are now available on-line here and here.
The Tezos Fellowship program is only open for developers based in India, and is a very intensive course: 8 weeks with an estimated time commitment of 40 hours per week. This course is not only free, developers are even payed when milestones are achieved. To complete the course, developers earn $1,500,-, spread out in intervals of two weeks.

During the course, developers will contribute to several projects in development, which makes this course not just an attribution to a growing developers community on Tezos, but also an attribution to actual Tezos build concepts and applications.
Not just anyone will be accepted to the program. As stated above, this program is only available to Indian-based developers. And every registered application will have to go through an interview after which a final invitation to the course will be considered.

The kick start to incentivize developer community growth on Tezos is getting traction. Last year, the goal was to train 1,000 + developers through several different courses provided by the Tezos ecosystem. This year these courses continue to be provided and more and more tools are getting available for developers to build and learn. Several hackathons that have been organized this year, show successful growth in the amount of active developers. And the on-chain statistics confirm growth in both transactions and, more interesting: the amount of XTZ that is held in smart contracts. That is around 26 million XTZ at this point.
