When A.I. is copied ?

I came across the website https://www.publish0x.com at the end of March 2024. This was a coincidence. I was just looking for a specific computation time for closing a Bitcoin block depending on a certain hashrate. Is it possible to close a block with 500Mh? How long would this take? And what impact would it have on the whole blockchain if it takes longer than the average 10 minutes?

I found a few articles. None could give me a concrete answer. However, I landed on the page here. I immediately clicked away the pop-up, Receive cryptocurrencies for reading articles. A moment later I reloaded the page and thought to myself "Oh - interesting".

That's how I came across the article here;

Google says theres no straight line between ai and unemployment". By LeftFooted"

I have to be honest, I wasn't really interested in the whole topic of AI. But the cover image of this post really appealed to me. So I thought I'd take a look at the article. I read the post, interesting thoughts from the author.

And I ask myself what the topic of A.I. means to me. Among other things, that I am also an artist. Painting in various forms and media. As I am also just a normal person, everyday life keeps catching up with me and I forget the things that were once important to me. In the time when you were still creative out of conviction, to express something, to discover techniques and to develop.

The cover picture really appealed to me, especially when I read that it was created especially for the article by an A.I. I thought to myself, I want to prove to myself that I can paint this picture from the hip.

"I’ve used perplexity.ai, a free AI software, to generate the image for this story" by LeftFooted. Who`s copyright?

This was on 30.04.2024, fitting that in Germany 01.05.2024 is a public holiday, I thought I would use this holiday productively and paint the picture.

In the preparations for the painting, I continued to think about this action. As so often, I also create small videos to document the creation. I like to upload these to YouTube, like a little video diary for my work and my projects.

So I decided to create a making of video for this picture too. Now I had an interesting thought. After all the discussions that are still going on, are A.I.s allowed to use the property of artists, photographers or other content creators? Who owns the intellectual property? Who holds the rights? How can this be used?

Personally, I have never used an A.I. tool myself - why? I don't know.

However, I do know that most tools throw up to four sample images after the content has been typed in. You don't see the process of calculating here, unlike my making of video you can see the setting up of the canvas, the pencil, the color and the finishing. But this also takes a little longer.

I have described in detail how I ended up here, but I had no intention of writing an article. However, I found the mind game so interesting that I decided to do it after all. But what is the situation here? An artist, a person, copies an A.I. generated image of another person, an author, and this becomes the basis of an entire text? Now I have an original painting hanging in my study. I painted it, framed it, signed it. The A.I. created the basis.

I think both are legitimate. They both exist somehow. For a brief moment I considered removing the NFTs from the picture, but like K.I. I wasn't too convinced. But maybe that will come. Who knows?

I'm not afraid of A.I. . She's here. She's here to stay for sure. I also understand the outcry and the thoughts about changing society. But somehow people always manage to adapt great technical innovations for unusual purposes.

The internet, the cell phone, milestones in the networking of our societies, countries and people. It has become a huge digital marketplace that leaves our cities empty.

When I dived into the crypto world in 2020 and it was explained to me that an incredible number of computers, miners and computing devices around the world have to secure the Bitcoin network and solve enormous mathematical calculations. My first question was, what is the real-world application of solving these problems? What is being calculated?

Today I know that this is only for logging its own transactions and for self-preservation.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to use this bundled computing power for another application? For calculating trajectories to Mars or something similar? I just don't know.

But I would like to take this opportunity to thank the author "LeftFooted" for encouraging me to be creative once again and paint a picture and write an article!

Many thanks

I originally wrote this text in German and translated it using DeepL. ( an A.I. tool ? ;)
