Behind Solana's incredible bullish trend in 2023, a crucial role, according to the Solana Foundation, would have been played by the developers, whose hard core survived the darkest period for the ecosystem (in the post-collapse of FTX) and then grew consistently throughout 2023.
And this would be the consequence of the successful bet on the educational resources of the network, which had a decisive influence on the onboarding and retention of developers, in turn measured with respect to the number of commits per dev in three consecutive months.
Furthermore, as many as 400-500 new developers would have graduated from various bootcamps sponsored by the network, attracted by job requests growing by 500% in the last year.
The developers active monthly, in the last year, are estimated to be between 2,500 and 3,000, divided between applications in multiple programming languages and formats through various educational resources offered by the network.
Behind the scenes of SOL's growth
Among the most relevant realities in this field, SuperteamDAO, a real community dedicated to devs that offers various training opportunities, but also a whole series of hackathons and other complementary events, which have reached more than 150 countries around the world.
“In the last three years, more than 3,000 projects have been launched and more than $600 million in funding has been raised compared to those presented at the hackathons,” wrote the Solana Foundation in a statement. “The most recent hackathon, Solana Hyperdrive, received more than 900 registrations.”
Solana's exponential growth, in all this, would not be a coincidence for many. SOL has been one of the best performing tokens in the entire altcoin sector, recording a +1,000% in 2023, and continues to outdo itself in the various sectors of the industry, from DeFi, through NFTs, up to more general metrics such as number of active users and new wallets.
