Hello my dear reader, how are you? I'm personally happy cause i got graduated from universuty the last 30 march, finally! And in the mainwhile i'll search for a job so i can at least pay a little of my uni taxes since i will start in September another study cycle of two years to get a title more... it should help in the search for work later. Anyway the subject of today is Internet and its carbon footprint that grows each day more and what we can do to lessen it.
Internet is an essential part of our life, it touches every sector in industry and non, it also contribute to 2.8% to 11.8% circa of global greenhouse gas emission; this is something most people are already aware, even the big companies like Google and Microsoft that are trying to be a little more green by becoming carbon neutral...though it isn't enough. We need a more efficient solution and that's when the green search engines come into the light.
A "green browser" is a search engine that actively strives toward eco-friendly practices makes it possible for you to contribute to preserving the planet doing what you usually do.
- : like every engine it takes the money from ad revenue, now 100% of it, to plant trees where thay are needed founding other organizations in a way to act and privide work locally to farmers and others. Every 45 search= 1 tree in the ground
- OCEAN HERO: same model but istead of planting trees thay claim to fish out of the sea as much plastic as they can, you get shells searching and every 5 searches is a bottle out of the ocean; there are also minigames that pays shells too
- : when you search you get hearts and here you can actually chose from the many charities the one or ones you wnat to donate with, hearts are donated at the end of the month
- ELLIOT FOR WATER: the mission of this search engine is to bring potable water in Africa and where is the need, thay use the money from ads to build wells around the world, currently the site is under maintainance (hopefully it returns active soon)
I use Ecosia on my phone and pc while on my tablet i have Ocean Hero; even if it seems something small we are 8 MILIARDS...we are a lo,if just half of the people who have access to the internet used this instead of google the impact would be awesome (just to be clear you CANNOT BOICOTT Google,too powerfull... can help offsett it tho)
