The news of the SEC's fake post was on everyone's lips, a real shame and some think it was premeditated, others simply believe that it was a hacker attack.
But it's not just bombshell news.
Celsius, the CeFi platform that collapsed on July 13, 2022, has asked all users who withdrew over $100,000 in the 90 days before the platform's outbreak to return their money.
Those involved in this matter will have to pay 27.5% of the amount withdrawn by early summer of this year or they will be sued and will therefore have to appear in court.
A procedure that has already happened and is common practice in the USA in the world of bankruptcy management and serves to ensure that all customers who have been "burned" receive a fair refund.
Celsius, to comply with the repayment of creditors, also withdrew 206,300 ETH from staking worth approximately $490 million at current prices.
The risk is that people who have already spent this sum of money and who perhaps now have difficulty paying off such a debt will be involved.
All other users, who have been waiting for around 18 months, will "theoretically" soon see a portion of what they pay back, in BTC or ETH (with percentages currently unknown).
A small consideration...
Considering that the price of ETH in July 2022 was around 1070 dollars and that in the last 18 months the price has risen significantly, an average annual return of at least 4.2% can be estimated for staking alone.
The advice remains the same. Store your funds in private wallets, which you and only you own. Unfortunately, the cryptocurrency sector is extremely volatile and not yet regulated as it should, so you need to be careful and vigilant.
Anything could happen in a few days.
